Qualifying for Life Insurance with Eclampsia.

If you have eclampsia but want to get life insurance then you will probably have a lot of questions about how to do it.

Well, you’ve come to the right place!

We help individuals get life insurance with eclampsia and other pre-existing medical conditions all the time.

Which is why…

We’ve chosen to write this article so that we can “walk” through the steps with you, making sure you get the best possible life insurance with your condition. So… without further ado, let’s get started.

What is eclampsia?
This is a very serious condition that pregnant women need to be concerned about. Though rare, it can be quite serious. It is actually a complication of a more well-known problem called pre-eclampsia.

What I pre-eclampsia?

This is where you have high blood pressure during pregnancy (after 20 weeks). It puts both the mother and unborn baby at risk.

So back to eclampsia…

Eclampsia is a seizure that happens due to preeclampsia. The other symptoms include:

  • Loss of consciousness
  • Headaches
  • Muscle ache
  • Pain in the abdomen
  • Irritation

The reason eclampsia is a big deal is because it can actually be life threatening. The cure is actually to give birth. People with eclampsia or preeclampsia may be encouraged to give birth early, either by their doctor or nature!

Eclampsia Post-Pregnancy.

Most people recover from eclampsia shortly after pregnancy, but it is still necessary to monitor your health. Because many complications can occur during birth if the mother suffers from eclampsia, it’s difficult to say for sure how “serious” your condition may become because it’s really going to fluctuate on case to case basis.

Getting Life Insurance with Eclampsia.

Now, it’s certainly possible to qualify for a traditional term or whole life insurance policy.  In fact, as long as you’re not in your final trimester, getting qualified shouldn’t be all that difficult provided that you’re in good health.

That being said however…

Once you add eclampsia to the mix, what your gererally going to find is that most life insurance companies (if not all) are going to want to wait until after you’ve given birth before they’ll consider your application for approval.

Qualifying for Life Insurance after Eclampsia.

Once you’ve delivered your baby, and show no residual effects from eclampsia, then you can easily apply for life insurance.  In fact, at this point, you may even be able to qualify for a no medical exam life insurance policy as well!

Will having eclampsia in the past impact my life insurance rate?

If you have fully recovered, then in most cases no, it should not. There are even some life insurance companies that will underwrite a policy at a preferred rate – so long as all your other medical issues check out.

What else do life insurance companies care about besides eclampsia?
Let’s be honest; eclampsia is just one medical condition that you may have. Many people have a whole gamut of health issues, big and small. And when you are applying for life insurance, you need to consider all of those things. Some things you may consider “no big deal” might just wind up being quite a big deal to life insurance companies.

Health Issues Life Insurance Companies Consider:

When underwriting a term or whole life insurance policy, a life insurance company will ask you for:

  • Medical history
  • Blood work
  • Urine work
  • A medical check up
  • List of current and past medications
  • Blood Pressure check
  • Weight/BMI check

These will help a life insurance company to determine not only your existing health issues, but ones that may arise. Any medical problem that could potentially cut your life shorter than expected will be of concern for a life insurance company. You can easily get life insurance with eclampsia in your past (if you’ve recovered completely), but you may not get life insurance with high blood pressure in your present – at least not at the rate you desire.

How do you find the best life insurance company?

Life insurance companies assess your risk levels – but they don’t all do it in the same manner. Some life insurance companies will be easier on some health problems than others. Some life insurance companies think smokers shouldn’t get a great rate – but others understand that casual or social smoking really isn’t that big of a deal. But how do you find out which life insurance company will go easiest on your health and lifestyle issues?

It’s not an easy maze to navigate.
Finding a life insurance company that will go easy on eclampsia and the other things you have going on in your life and body isn’t all that simple. There are so many things to consider and factor in – it really becomes like one big math problem…or more like a series of math problems. And really, who has time for all that today? Do you want to be spending hours and hours looking for the right life insurance company and still maybe not even find it?
